Please note: Influenza and pneumonia
deaths are provided as an estimate for influenza related deaths in
ND. However since pediatric influenza associated deaths are now
reportable (beginning in 2004-05) to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the
North Dakota Department of Health investigates all pediatric death
reports associated with influenza or pneumonia. If it is determined
that the death is not related to influenza infection the report is
not counted in the total.
